Princess Diana was beloved for many things, not least of which was her impeccable style. Well, just in time to honor what would’ve been her 54th birthday on July 1, one of her most famous pieces went on sale at auction: a gown designed just for her by Gianni Versace.
The body-hugging silk gown is beautifully embellished with gold studs and colorful glass beads, making it a showstopper that only someone with as much elegance as Diana could pull off. And apparently someone out there really wanted to give it a shot, as the dress ended up selling for $200,000! Considering that the estimated price of the gown was $80,000 and bidding began at $30,000, this final bid is pretty crazy, no?
