Hello Readers,
My name is Johnny Renard Johnson and I write poetry. "No Bells No Whistles, Just Poetry" is a collection of 31 poems that I have written over the last 15 years. The book is separated into two sections, Life and Love. This is what I hope to be the first of many volumes. I hope you enjoy.
Featured Poem- GEORGIA TONIC
She was so fine that I’m insecure So damn gorgeous it made me unsure
The chills I received on hot summer days The rush that I felt as I slowed down my pace
Looked at her face, she gave me her presence If God gave out gifts, she was a present
She stayed on my mind after encounters Imprinting my thoughts creating her fossils
Maybe it’s possible, to escort her forever Or maybe one dinner, maybe one blessing
I’m far from King, attained few possessions But holding to her, it made me feel wealthy
Or somewhat affluent and well off indeed The sound of her voice, did something to me
It made me feel free, yet put me in prison It opened my mind, it cuffed my attention
Created suspension that kept me afloat I counted the minutes and seconds we spoke
It’s not that I smoke, just high off of her
Avoiding my rehab, increasing my dose
My vision is dizzy, my minds in twirl But all stood still for a glimpse of this girl
She shook up my world, a natural success You’ll ask who she is? I’ll leave you to guess
