'The Shadow Of The Dark Soul' is the story of Zayesha who is a twenty something journalist working in Delhi. Sensitive and compassionate she is a league apart from her contemporaries, who believe in the mantra of manufacturing or milking news. Cornered by her boss, she fights against time to work on the Nirbhaya case in order to save her job. Synchronicity plays a crucial, life- altering role in her life when a series of events make her question herself. During this phase, Zayesha comes across The Shadow of The Dark Soul, thanks to her next door neighbor. Nothing stays the same afterwards as Zayesha is made to reassess everything. Will she manage to finish her report on the Nirbhaya case on time? How far will she go to step from armchair activism into the realities of life? Will she win in the end? The questions are many, but the answers lie within The Shadow of the Dark Soul, the maiden novel of Sukhmani Gandhi, a budding Delhi based writer.

1. Share something about you with the Readers.....

I am currently pursuing my gradution in philosophy from Lady Shri Ram College for women. Often you will find people who strive towards their goal I rather work the other way around. I feel that one should explore and experience all the possibilities instead of letting failure or success decide what you want to do in life; Do that one thing whose experience leaves an indelible impact on you.

2. Why an Author?

I belive in the power of creation. Atoms are the smallest particles. Right?

but writers have the power to create and make the audience believe that might be something else too.The strength to transform the society through the medium of words which lies in the hands of an author. This is the reason why I wanted to be one.

3. Why this topic?

People talk about various social issues only till the time they are in limelight and later they forget about it. I belive in order to bring change in our society its necessary to draw attention of the authorties to transform their words into actions. Further, I wanted the people to see things through a different perspective and come up with a solution rather than cribbing and playing the blame game.

4. What motivated you to draft this book/ Inspiration

I always took writing as a playful activity unless this person in my life made me realise that its good to keep a journal but sometimes our perspectives are so strong that they need to be admired and respected by the society at the same time.I realised that its important to live for a cause rather than living an aimless life.In this process I formulated my thoughts into "The Shadow of the Dark Soul"
